Hai Onn Hainanese Restaurant
Last weekend I read this in the papers and naturally, I was very curious.
I finished reading it and blurted out
“Ehh so was the chicken chop good or not?!?! Why never say wan!!”
We all know that if the writer never mention, it could only mean two things ;
1) Writer forgot to mention.
2) It sucks.
Chicken chop being one of my favourites, I had to find out for myself. So I googled for the exact location of the place (yes I know the writer included the address but I don’t know 90% of the road names here and Burma Road is a veryyyyyyyyy long road). I need to see a picture of the shop so that I have a rough idea of its location. I found out from my googling that most, if not all food blogs speak highly of this place.
Speaking of chicken chops, the best I had was the one at a coffeeshop near my old place. The seller used brown sauce instead of the usual tomato/whatever you call it sauce and he always gives me a free slice of cheese! I don’t know where he has moved to though sigh.
Anyway I got there, made my orders (2 x hainanese chicken chop, 4 x plain bread, roti babi, 2 x drinks), sat down and wait. About 10 minutes or so later, this lady approached our table and started promoting her otak otak (just like in the article). She mentioned she’s the mummy from thestar article and that her otak otaks can keep for 10 days. I have her namecard, if anyone wants.

Taste good but a bit pricey for a small piece. RM 2 per piece.
45 minutes or so later, the chicken chops was served.
The food don’t look appetising at all. They really need to work on their food presentation haih.

The chicken chop!

Roti Babi.
I assure you, it has nothing to do with my non existent photo taking skills. The food really looks like that.
The roti babi was good, but I think the one at the Senior Citizen place is slightly better although I won’t be going back to that place (senior citizen) anytime soon.
As for the chicken chop, well, the gravy is a bit too watery for my liking but the chicken is good. Actually if you eat the chicken and the gravy together, it taste not bad.
But I’ve had better chicken chops.
